Canada has banned many unpasteurized cow and buffalo milk cheeses from Switzerland, France, Spain, Greece & Italy, due to a cattle-disease outbreak.
This affects the availability of favourites including Brie de Meaux, Morbier, Tomme de Savoie, Vacherin Mont d'Or, and Tête de Moine.

I was skeptical about the "holy grail" hype, but we were not disappointed by this infinitely complex cheese. Notes of mushrooms and wine customary of the finest bloomy rind cheeses, with a zestiness that is almost cheddar-like (verging on feta), and totally unique notes of evergreen trees (that spruce bark wrapping!). I recommend letting the whole wheel come to room temperature before baking it according to the prep directions in the blog article on the Tomme website, as this will preserve the luxurious creamy texture of the cheese and it won't require extra baking time over the 10-15 minutes they recommend. The more we ate of this, the more the fathomless depths of flavour continued to unfold. A truly enigmatic cheese experience. We'll be back for another wheel next year for sure!!!
If you like Camembert, the Vacherin d’or is twice that funky! I love Camembert but this was a little too pungent for me to want to repeat it. Service from Tomme was great, quick response to emails and speedy delivery.
Lovely soft cheese that tastes milder than it smells. We have some picky eaters when it comes to cheese, but this is one that everyone likes and looks forward to.
Enjoyed the cheese, very creamy and tasty. Great nose as well. Took a little longer to prepare than I thought but worth it in the end!
