Order Processing

Orders are typically processed within 24–48 hours on business days. At TOMME, business days for the shipping team are Tuesday through Saturday.

Orders placed on Sundays, Mondays, or holidays will be processed the next business day.

Same-day shipping is not usually available. That said, we understand that condolence gifts are time-sensitive — please call us and we’ll always do our best to help.

Product Sizing

Each piece of cheese is freshly cut to order.

Weights listed on each product page are approximate. Most of the time, you’ll receive a piece that’s slightly larger than the stated weight. We will never fulfill an order with a piece that is more than 5% under the listed weight.

Local Deliveries (Guelph)

Guelph deliveries are dispatched Tuesday through Saturday during business hours.

Greater Toronto Area (GTA) Deliveries

GTA orders are dispatched once per week on Wednesdays for Thursday delivery.

Orders must be placed by 5 PM on Tuesday. Orders placed after the cutoff will ship the following week.

Courier Shipments (Ontario Outside the GTA + Rest of Canada)

All other Ontario destinations (outside the GTA) and all other Canadian provinces and territories ship via overnight courier.

Orders are packed in insulated materials with ice packs to maintain freshness.

Courier shipments are sent Tuesdays and Wednesdays only to ensure arrival before the weekend. Most regions receive delivery on the next business day.

A note on “overnight” shipping: Overnight refers to the speed of transit once your order has been dispatched. Overnight does not mean same-day shipping or next-day delivery from the time you place your order. Orders are processed within 24–48 hours on business days before shipment.

Courier Selection

Because cheese is perishable and timing matters, TOMME reserves the right to choose the courier or delivery partner we believe is best suited for each order. 

We make this choice based on destination, delivery timing, service availability, weather conditions, and product freshness.

The courier selected may differ from any courier shown, requested, or previously used.

Courier Limitations & Our Right to Cancel

Cheese is perishable, and timing matters. We rely on courier partners to deliver quickly and reliably.

In rare cases, we may need to cancel an order if:

  • The courier does not service the destination

  • Delivery timelines are too long to guarantee quality

  • Shipping fees are significantly higher than normal

If this happens, we will contact you right away.

Full Refund Guarantee

If we cancel an order due to courier limitations, you will always receive a full refund. We’ll notify you immediately, explain the situation clearly, and process your refund promptly.

Safe Deliveries

We always aim to place each order directly into the recipient’s hands.

When that isn’t possible, couriers may leave a package at the address if it appears reasonably safe to do so (this is prohibited by provincial law if the order includes alcohol).

Once a package has been delivered to the address provided, TOMME cannot be responsible for loss or damage.

Deliveries Containing Alcohol

Orders that include alcohol must be received directly by a person who is 19 years of age or older. These deliveries cannot be left unattended.

Delayed Fulfillment

Orders that include items arriving at a later date — such as bagels and cheese pre-orders — will ship once all items in the order are available.

Shipping to the United States

Due to U.S. regulations, Canadian cheese shops are not permitted to ship food products across the border.
