Louis d'Or Grand Reserve (4 Year)

For a recent whiskey & cheese tasting at Spring Mill Distillery, we secured some Louis d’Or Grand Réserve that has been carefully aged for a very long 4 years. This rare cheese is something we’ve never had in the shop before.

We normally see wheels aged 9 months, 18 months, or 2 years. Occasionally a 3-year appears. Four years is extraordinary.

Only a handful of wedges came out of this wheel, and fewer still remained after the event. Not nearly enough to put in the case, so we’re quietly offering them to our SMS insiders first.

After four years of aging, the paste becomes dense and crystalline with deep notes of toasted nuts, browned butter, and caramelized savoury sweetness. It pairs beautifully with rye and bourbon-style whiskeys.

When these wedges are gone, they’re gone.
