Canada has banned many unpasteurized cow and buffalo milk cheeses from Switzerland, France, Spain, Greece & Italy, due to a cattle-disease outbreak.
This affects the availability of favourites including Brie de Meaux, Morbier, Tomme de Savoie, Vacherin Mont d'Or, and Tête de Moine.
We'll bring back these cheeses the moment we can, but the restrictions are expected to last many months.
Stinky and oozy: these are not particularly flattering adjectives for a food product (or ANY product for that matter). But in the case of Munster, it draws droves of rabid fans.
Munster is in fact a fairly mildly flavoured cheese. The brave souls who are able to get past the odour are rewarded with a creamy and deeply satisfying experience.
Try it with a Gewürztraminer or a full-bodied red wine.

Perfectly ripe and delicious Munster. Aromatic rind and creamy interior. Very hard to find, and a delightful treat.
