A mild organic raw-milk cheese made in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. The line of red peppercorns running through the middle of each wheel lends a delicate pepper flavour without any heat.

This cheese is a great melter but is just as delicious sliced as a snack. For a raclette dinner, plan for 100-200 g of cheese per person.

Terrible...RACLETTE DE COMPTON AU POIVRE

This review breaks my heart because I was so looking forward to trying the RACLETTE DE COMPTON AU POIVRE.

The cheese presented well and cut beautifully. We also loved the fine line of the peppercorns in the middle.

Nothing about appearance would suggest the cheese was rotten or turned, but flavour would suggest it had gone bad.

The cheese (sadly) was absolutely terrible. This cheese was not mild, it was putrid. The smell was rank, and not the it 'smells bad but tastes good' kind of smell.
Taste was worse than the smell when we sliced it and tried it with crackers. So we melted it, and it was no better, arguably worse when warmed.

There was a horrible taste as soon as you started chewing it, followed by a sweetish almost nutty flavour, that once finished overwhelmed with a after taste that was unpleasant, smokey and sour.

We were so excited for this cheese, sadly we did not sample before purchasing.

Highly recommend before purchasing you sample it.

It's hard to say what happened here because we don't have any more wedges from this wheel to check, nor have we received any other complaints. But this is certainly not the type of experience we want any customer to have.

Excellent

Every thing was great.

Just one little thing….the slices could have been more uniform in thickness. Nothing a good industrial cheese slicer can’t fix, though I realize those machines aren’t cheap.

Will shop with you again.
