Canada has banned many unpasteurized cow and buffalo milk cheeses from Switzerland, France, Spain, Greece & Italy, due to a cattle-disease outbreak.
This affects the availability of favourites including Brie de Meaux, Morbier, Tomme de Savoie, Vacherin Mont d'Or, and Tête de Moine.
We'll bring back these cheeses the moment we can, but the restrictions are expected to last many months.
A classic Swiss cheese, holes and all.
This Appenzeller is made with raw milk and aged just 3-4 months. The result is a firm, sweet, slightly spicy, and wonderfully aromatic cheese that can be enjoyed on its own or used in cooking, such as fondue or even raclette.
Sold in 200 g or 300 g wedges. (Note: product photos are not intended to depict any particular size wedge.)
So thankful that Tomme Cheese Shop carries this cheese. Very hard to come across. It's a pleasure to eat just like that with some grapes or for melting in Alplermagronen a favorite Swiss meal.
