Canada has banned many unpasteurized cow and buffalo milk cheeses from Switzerland, France, Spain, Greece & Italy, due to a cattle-disease outbreak.
This affects the availability of favourites including Brie de Meaux, Morbier, Tomme de Savoie, Vacherin Mont d'Or, and Tête de Moine.
We'll bring back these cheeses the moment we can, but the restrictions are expected to last many months.
Our bagels are delivered each week via courier from Montreal’s famous “Maison du Bagel” St-Viateur. Just as they have been made for decades, each one of these “real” bagels is shaped by hand, boiled in honey water, dressed, and then baked in a wood-fired oven. There’s nothing like ‘em!
NOTE: If your order includes bagels, your WHOLE ORDER will be held until the date your bagels arrive. If you would like the rest of your items before your bagels arrive, please place two separate orders.
Went moldy after 3 days
Oh dear, we're sorry to hear this happened, Nancy. We have issued a full refund.
By way of an explanation, bagels from St-Viateur are baked with only natural ingredients, which means no preservatives. The bagels we receive are baked on Tuesday afternoon, shipped overnight, and in the shop on Wednesday. If customers plan to keep them past Friday, we suggest freezing them to maintain freshness. I'm sorry we didn't communicate this to you.
In your case, it looks like you purchased them on a Friday. Three days from that point would put them at almost a week since they were originally baked. Depending on humidity levels, this can lead to mould when the product has no preservatives.
Very authentic! Just as we remembered them!
St-Viateur makes the best bagels in the world. End of story.
Thank you.
Amazing bagels
